earbuds: shure e2c vs sony mdr-ex 7... any comments?
    #4139096 - 05/05/05 08:17 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

so I'm probably going to go with the mdr-ex7 because of the price and the better bass, but does anyone have any experience with both. How well do the mdr-ex7's work for sound isolation? Hows the comfort. I just got me a creative labs nomad zen the other week, and can't stand the headphones that came with it. The sound isn't that great and my ears hurt like hell when I pull them out. Also, if anyone has some other earbuds to suggest, please let me know. Nothing over $100 though.

the shure's are most excellent but pricey.
the sony's are excellent but affordable.

I recommend the sony's if you're on a budget but want quality (great audio) sound. If you have plenty of money to spend, get the shure.

It is a choice between #1 and #2 - you really cant go wrong.

I bought e2c's a few months ago. They sound AMAZING, but you have to find the right fitting earpiece (it comes with 3 different sizes of foam and 3 rubber kind) for it to sound the best with the most comfort. They block out everything else, I love them. I found a sweet deal on www.techbargains.com at the right time and snatched them up.

Here's my post on them.

Read up on the Sony's but don't know first-hand.

arrrgghh... I went with the sonys and after five months of regular use, the left side has crapped out on me. They sounded great when they were working, but the construction of these things is so damned flimsy. Anyhow, I just ordered the shure e2c's which come with a 2 year warranty.

I got the Shure E2C and love them. Sony, from my experience, is often rather crappy, at least considering the price tag. Shure is known in the recording industry for their microphone quality (some are staples of all recording studios). I've been nothing but impressed by the sound quality of the earbuds.

I just wish they fit better. The foam pieces fit perfectly, but they tend to get messed up much easierly.

The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.
