Outdoor Neglect Tek

I read a Tek (here) about a dude whose bulk grow got contemed, so he threw it outside in a shallow hole, and it fruited! Would the fruits off of this be safe to eat if there was a bacterial contamination?

Fruits that grow from contaminated substrates are definitely safe to eat, no worries.

Nope, no sarcasm. I wouldn't give unsafe advice on this sort of thing. Black mold in the Aspergillus family is the only one I'd be cautious about, sometimes it can be toxic. I didn't mention this originally because I can't imagine you seeing a flush worth harvesting from a black mold infested substrate, they usually thrive in a jar/dish environment and not out in the open.

So.. Being outdoors would kill The Bacillus? Or am I being the butt of a cruel joke on a n00b?

Are you talking in general, or just on outdoor grows?...

Is this some new breakthrough conclusion that I just haven't heard about yet?...

I can't tell you if it's going to kill the Bacillus or not, but eating fruits with Bacillus is harmless.

I'm talking about the fruits from any grow, indoor or out. I've eaten (and fed others) goodies off a variety of contamned substrates, just about every one in the book, and from my experience fruits do not drudge the contamination into the fruit body. In other words, fruits = safe.

There's a big difference between this and huffing infected jars, now that I would not go near.

Wow... okay then. That makes me feel better about the fruits i harvested from one casing that was just starting to show splotches of some sort of contam...

I was pretty paranoid about it at the time, so I only picked fruits a good distance from those spots, too.

Well... From my limited experience on this forum I would say that Diver is always full of good advice, and I'm def. going to trust him on this one. After harvest I'll let y'all know if I get poisoned. Thanks again Diver!

Yeah, I wasn't doubting him either... I'm just amazed.

I've only seen useful and accurate info from him.

Anyone that was seriously trying to pull a joke like this in order to get a n00b poisoned/killed would be ran out of the community in a second. At least I'd like to think so...this community is 99% great people.

Diver is definately in the 99%, so don't worry.

wow....i thought it was bad to eat fruits from contamed substrates. someone posted here a few weeks ago about a friend who ate shrooms from a green mold cake back in december. he said he developed some sort of liver disease diagnosed by a doctor. i know diver is on the level and is very wise but i thought diferently about this topic and now not sure. i wonder if some of the other old hands would coment on this. i could have sworn ive heard many say not to eat fruits from contamed cakes, casings etc.

I'm bumping this for Kalix. I can understand wanting a second opinion on something when it comes to your health.

Anyone else that has experience with fruit bodies from contaminated substrates, feel free to chime in.
