First PF grow

Ok I have been incubating my B+ jars for about a week now in 75-82 degree temps. Several jars have white growths: one has three growths: one the size of a quarter, and the other about the size of a fingertip. Three other jars so similar growths, only small and few. Now the question I have is about the growth. I assume it to be mycelium, but the thing that worries me is that it doesnt seem to be spreading fast(the growth is only at innocullation points). I have noticed that in pictures, the mycelium is just spreading over the jar like crazy. Maybe my substrate is too packed, maybe not enough moisture, or maybe nothing. I will have pictures posted later today so that maybe I can have a successful first time. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I would assume he's using BRF since it is PF.
Check out this thread. Sounds similar.
you may consider flipping the jars upside down when it gets a little further along. This will allow c02 to escape from the jar. Many find that the spreading will take off again.
Good luck!

If your 'mycelium' grows too fast.. it might just be a contaminant. Be happy it's growing slow(er). It takes a while to do PF jars. Especially when you don't have a liquid culture (look into the Karo TEK.. very valuable in speeding up times) and an incubator (also key to speeding up colonization).
What was your recipe for the jars??
Usually a good solid recipe is 2 parts Verm 1 part BRF 1 part h2o
Hope that helped
Sam

They look fine.....my last batch took 5 days to show squat, and those were cambodians...very fast colonizing. Had em at 84 degrees F consistently with 4 inoc points. It took them 20 days to do the works, then I left em for an extra two to be sure before. Don't worry...be happy...looks just like the mycell I had and things worked out great.

Thanks so much! Feedback is such a good feeling. Confidence makes me happy! I look forward to being able to enjoy my fruits before too long. I am going to be using a home-made terrarium with damp perlite in the bottom. I will post picks as soon as I birth my cakes.

Looking good crut!
I am in the fruiting stage of my first grow with b+ right now! If there is one thing I learned, it is to have patients! Let the shroomies grow at their own rate. Believe me, the patients pays off in the long run! GL Man

Excellent! Argo, be sure to let me know the specifics on your project. I think it would be helpful to me to be one step behind someone doing the same thing. If you already have a post with your pics and stuff, send me a link I cant find it. If not feel free to throw them in this post somewhere. Thanks!

Hey there, Yep...I knocked them up on 04-06 and it took a full week to see any growth at all. After that the first part of the growth came on slow, but they finished pretty quickly. I birthed them on 04-21.
They are B+
Good luck with yours !!
