Trouble with lid of terrarium after mulit-use
    #4137347 - 05/05/05 01:18 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

I've used my terrarium for about 3 grows, and it seems that when I sprayed water onto the roof of the plexi-glass (I did my first grow, don't ask me why), the silicone glue doesn't hold as well and the lid caves in only slightly (minor exposure to the air). Furthermore, I didn't even spray any water on teh lid last time, and another lid is sagging just a bitI haven't had any contam problems, but I was wondering if I should worry (I have tape around the outside blocking exposure to air, but it's not airtight anymore. Should I reapply tape, reglue the whole lid (such a bitch!), or is this fine (additional gas exchange?) Could I drill a hole in the base of the terrarium and stuff it with polyfil to help? Thanks everybody!

Drilling a hole and filling wwith poly-fill will only create additional gas exchange. you can tape the lid if you like but i don't think it's that big of a deal. none of my rubbermaid tubs are air-tight. If you have a big sag (1/8" of more) then you should just get a new lid.

my friend pleezr drills holes in the plexi glass and the lid and uses screws to hold the plexi glass down on to the lid...works like a charm!~
