Do you ever feel like
    #4137176 - 05/05/05 12:36 PM (11 years, 11 months ago)

you tread a fine line when tripping? With your thoughts I mean, do you ever feel you have to be carefull and direct your thoughts away from dark thoughts else you could spiral into extreme negative feelings?

On low medium doses I can enjoy the trip a lot unless I think about certain things, such as my hands. If I think about them for to long it feels like they are dislocated and injured, specially my right hand which I injured a year ago and which never healed fully. My torso also normally feels messed up. Also thinking about sharp objects makes me feel vulnerable...

:yesnod: I really really really don't like sharp objects while tripping.

Totally. I feel like my thoughts are on the edge of a knife the whole time. If I were to stray just a little, those negative thoughts could snowball out of control. Every time I trip though it seems to get a little easier to balance.

I guess everything in life takes practice

I'm with ya buddy.

Sometimes it feels like it almost gets *too* real.  Like I'm falling into a place which I will never be able to get out of.  Kind of like I'm getting lost and realize I don't know where my home is.

Then, ofcourse, I tell myself it's the shrooms, to go with the flow, to breathe, and to STOP HOLDING ONTO MY DAMN EGO! The ego is what's afraid of the toughts, and pushes away anything that is more powerful than it (i.e. psilocin) :tongue2: :mushroom2:

In the mushrooms world, you must allow your spirit to be the driver, not your ego.  You must experience the trip through your senses and your perception of the world.  Not through the perception of yourself.  The ego brings nothing but problems in this messed up world.

On shrooms i tend to pass all barriers of fear of death, as im in a very accepting mood. When my firends all hold up there huge knives and waving them around my face i only think about taking it and stabbing there head in. lol lately i get so insanely angry when any confrontation arises. Im the first to fight now.. i guess thats kinda bad tho.

i can definately relate to that feeling, but i get it a lot more with lsd than mushrooms it seems. i feel like mushrooms 'carry' me through the trip; show me what i need to see and bring me back safely. whereas it feels like with acid that i'm trying to tread the same path but there's no-one but my over-anylising brain to lead, which causes me to spiral into those dark thoughts.

Little things that bug me are always intensified when I've eaten shrooms. Once I had a blister on my finger that looked gross and disturbed the hell out of me to think about or look at. My advice would be to go somewhere or do something where your mind would be too distracted to get caught in a loop.

Yep - you have to be careful what you think when tripping. A few of my trips have started to go bad after I couldn't get negative thoughts ("oh shit - I've taken too much, oh shit - this is gonna be a nasty trip, oh shit - I feel really sick... maybe I'm dying) out of my head, but I managed to pull it back both times.

It's much harder to control at higher doses - think about the wrong sort of stuff and you're pretty boned.

this, i think, is why i found donnie darko to be such a good film to watch while tripping.
It was only my first time on shrooms. It was accidental (or so i assumed) that i even watched it, at the time i put it on, i was too far gone to be bothered to really look through all my dvds and vcds and make a conscious decision, the first DVD i picked up was it and i just thought "feck it, i've watched it a few times, will be interesting to see what it looks like on shrooms"
well, watching it whilst sober, even on a second or third time, you can't help thinking it's pretty dark in places. Not out-and-out horror, of course, and not even gory. Just...the mood, especially with some of the ambient music tracks.
Anyway, on shrooms it became transformed.
Maybe, it doesn't have any greater significance that i thought it did as a result of that experience, but tat the least, it might have been written or directed by some fellow tripper, meant to help those of us who have trouble when shrooming. Kind of like with The Beatles' Let It Be. We know they did drugs for a time, i wouldn't be at all surprised if it was actually intended to help you if you start heading to a bad place while on psychadelics. It brought me right down to earth for a few brief minutes when i tried Peruvian Torch (mescaline cactus) and helped send me in a better direction
now, though, having read a bit more about it, i may be better equipped to face the "bad place".

very true; however as soon as i tell my self not to think about the dead woman i saw in a bloody car accident or the child pornography i found on a loved ones computer i am immediately thrown into that thought loop. going with the flow and good company always helps.

i feel the same way, but i think it is because of the other people who are tripping with me. my earlier trips, when i was younger, were nothing like the ones i have now. i would set my mind free and let it go... now, it feels like I'm on that edge like you guys are describing. i do think of some dark things while tripping but once the peak is over, i have a more pleasant time.

you have to be optimistic when tripping. think to yourself that tripping can take you to beautiful places if you do it right. any worries you may have, think about those thoughts being a piece of paper in your mind which you can crumble up and toss it. also think to yourself that you have the next day or day after to fix your worries, why spoil a good experience?

last trip i had was very scary at some points.. my friend was bugging out, having a total mind fuck. i thought he was going to kill himself or something. as i layed down trying to calm my own mind down, i felt i was in a horror movie with scary violin type music in my head and flashes of red- like what i was seeing was a murder scene or something. we eventually felt better. what i thought about was yin and yang... where there's good, there's evil.

next time you have a bad time, think to yourself that where there's evil, comes good. You cannot have one without the other. once you overcome the bad feelings, you will be struck down with enlightenment and its like your mind does a complete turnaround. its all about the chi-balance.

Mushrooms are absolutely amazing, the things you can see on high doses...

I dont think I can ever take a high dose while around people, as its just too intense, I become almost catatonic in stages as thoughts spin into patterns of colours, and normal emotions will become extreme. On a high dose the anxiety increases as I lose more and more control of my mind until eventually I'm totally absorbed in the experience and the surreal thought scapes and emotions flow freely. Its hard to put into words just how ALIEN and surreal normal life seems when in the trip itself. Somtimes I will open my eyes and perceive my enviroment in a totally mystical and surreal way and the image will stick with me, then I'll descend into chaos again. Thoughts such as interacting with people and certain enviroments seem so complex and laden with emotion that we normally ignore. Its awe inspiring, and makes me feel totally vulnerable, this feeling seems to increase at a rate relative to the dose.

I really dont feel this way at all anymore. I use to, but now I can only think amazingly positive thoughts about how much I love life and nature. I once thought that my life was ending(like seriously felt like I could die within any minute) and I honestly didnt feel like it was a bad idea. I just accepted it and thought "well, at least I'm tripping." If death can't waver my thoughts into negativity, I really dont think there is much else to be afraid of.
Ive also tripped around 60 or so times, though, so Im pretty experienced.
