using agar just for shipping?

this is mostly for salvia, but others too.
i am curious if one can place a rooted plant in agar then place in protected container, boxed and mailed. my concern is that it wont dry out and am looking for ways that it can be shipped and get to me, or anyone, live. OR, could one simply take a cutting in agar?
ive never really worked with agar outside of some courses and it was to do with animal stuff.
any help would be excellent. the idea is to try and get a method that can up the odds greatly of customs fucking everything up and taking forever to get it across. which is happening ALL the time in canada!

Yes, this is an interesting question. Would this be like a tissue culture? This could be a great aid for international live plant shipping. Surely someone here knows if this is feasible, cuz I ain't smart 'nuff.

what aboot rot? in my experience in humid environments plants that touch the sides of somthing will almost definatly rot. what we want is somthign that can survive 2-3 weeks in a package.
peraps placeing somting aroudn the inside of the test tube?

wraping the bottom in wet papper towel and placing in a test tube would be the saem as placing the cutting in agar in a test tube. The caps are breathable and not sealed if you get the plastic slide on caps. Its been standard practice to ship plants in test tubes for many years, like how the orchid growers do.

Sheik-I'm looking on eBay for some test tubes, gonna get some large ones, but all I see are rubber or cork stoppers, no plastic tops. Could you maybe provide a link or be a little more specific? Thanks for the help!
