The wet season is here but I don't think its cold enough yet for P. subaeruginosa
When I woke up today and looked out my window this is what I saw
It's inspired me to go find some more interesting looking fungi

looks like a Gymnopolis species to me...perhaps even spectabilis.
Check out the description and get a sporeprint.

Also check out the other Gyms at the site as they are sometimes hard to differentiate.

I'm not really interested in ripping it out of the ground for a spore print, I'd rather those spores go where they are intended. I just like to look at them.

The big one is cool looking, i have no idea what it is though. Doesnt look like a Gym except for the gold color and soft looking cap. THe ones on the tree (which can also be seen from the second picture of the big shroom) are obviously a Gym species. Could be any number of things though (including G. spectabilis), youd have to wait until they mature to get an accurate ID.
I wouldnt pick those either, itd be the same as picking a single cube and expecting to trip.
Need more Gyms than that (unless they are a potent strain). Maybe you should just pick one to see if it has a bluing reaction.

The big one and the little ones are the same to me.
Why don't you compare the Gym. spect. features to the large fruit in the pic. I think you will find quite a few similarities.

I dont think it is a spec. Look at the gill colors it look and off white pink. Specs have a yellow orange gills.

Look at the gills close to the stipe for more accurate gill color. The gills toward the edge are lit from the sun filtered through the cap.
The gills look yellow to me.

I'd concur with the gym theory minus one thing. Gyms absolutely COVER everything within a 3 inch radius of the cap with heavy, bright orange spores.
Also, as others have said, they have bright orange gills, the same color as the cap.
If it is a gym, my vote is for something like Gymnopilus ventricosus. If you're interested in finding out if it's active, rip it out, slice it into a few chunks (the rot fast because they're so thick and don't dry well). The edges where you cut up the chunks will show some slight signs of greening/bluing. Pinching helps them show this a bit more.
Another easy test for Gyms: Pinch off a little bit and chew it up then spit it out. If you have the most putrid, awful, bitter taste left in your mouth... Congrats, It's a Gym :P

Well I went out today to take a spore print to solve this mystery.
However when I went to check on it the piece of paper had been taken away... I guess not everyone understands what a spore print is. I understand that it didn't look very nice there being a piece of paper there but I had cut out a nice circle for it to fit around the base.. you'd think that might give you a clue 
I'll have another shot at it tomorrow

Ok for one you might need to take a couple of math classes I have been here almost a year. And if you do just a little bit of math we post around the same amount. Also we all are IDing on visual cues alone and there is no need to get all humpty dumpty about it.
