If your state is not located there, all you have to look for is Panaeolus subbalteatus. It grows on lawns, composting hay, horse manure, flower beds, rich soil, and plenty of other goodies.

Oh edibles only? I'm sure theres an east coast book over there that covers that area for edibles. I don't know many east coast books so I can't give you a referrence, but, I hope you find something that fits you. Check your local bookstores, im sure you will find something thats good, be sure to check every book out and pick the one thats going to help you the most with identification. The rest of the information on mushrooms you can find anywhere online.

Can anyone from the eastcoast refer this guy to a good east coast book?

Welcome to the shroomery princeza! And hey, you should check out the forum "Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms", im sure you would fit in with that crowd. Also check out Grow Log and Pictures, look for shirly knott threads, she grows great edibles.

Good, luck.
SoD

Probably the best book that covers South Dakota is Mushrooms of Northeastern North America by Alan E Bessette, Arleen R Bessette, and David W Fischer. Great keys and descriptions.

Happy mushrooming!
