thinking of using Mike O Logicals Wonderful World of Stuff
    #4131368 - 05/04/05 04:23 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I have been considering trying for a second time to grow. The first was riddled with mistakes and every single try was conatminated. I do believe this was on my part because my place is very very dirty  so i have been considiering buy some jars from Mike O Logicals, has anyone had any luck thier and would they suggest anything different?

Thanks, ScU

Well, I can tell you I've grown in pretty dirty conditions with success. What's important is that your substrate gets sterilized properly (buy a pressure cooker) and when it comes time to fruit, keep up air exchange to prevent contams from establishing. Cubensis can be grown in pretty dirty conditions. Environment has very little to do with it, the steps I mentioned do though.

My suggestion is to buy a P.C. and prepare your own jars if you don't already own one.

She knows im doing it, but its an out of site out of mind kinda thing and  PC rattling isn't out of sight. ... now that im done with that how are the quality of mike o logicals jars?

I'm sure his jars are of good quality. It's up to you though, would you rather pay for jars + shipping, or prepare them yourself? You have to decide that one.

Yeah, as long as you pc properly, use the verm layer on top and let the jar colonise fully before birthing you can grow in dirty conditions.

Mike is a good guy and a great vendor, I've gotten to know him a pretty well
since he's been here and can say that you really shouldnt have a complaint
if you deal with him, if you do have a problem then dont hesitate to contact
him and he'll rectify it if it's within his control... Mike is the best

shipping jars can be a waste of time/money... all the contents of the jars settle and compact during shipping and slow down colonization considerably ime, your better off just doing your own when you can find the time or you could just go to a friends place to sterilize your jars

i agree with sok. i used his jars and most of them are still colonizing! its been almost two months. since then i'v made my own jars wich are already in the fruiting chamber. granted, i'v had NO contams with his jars. but they are verry compacted and maybe a little dry.
p.s is your roomate a shut in or what.cook when she's gone.

If you sterilized your jars properly, then you are contaminating them during inoculation. Buying premade jars is not going to stop you from contaminating them with the needle. Did you sterilize the needle in between jars? If you're having so much trouble with contamination maybe you should sterilize between every jar, if not every hole. flame the needle glowing red and then wipe with a dust free cloth soaked in alcohol.

You may also want to think about whether you can really trust your girlfriend.

http://vermiculite.com/ (no, really haha)

Check out as many garden stores/nurseries first though. I'd rather spend an hour with the phone and the yellow pages than pay for shipping. Chances are you won't find it in any big chain stores, though.

What do you think, i'm some kind of ameteur?

i've got the shipping of jars down pat... they don't settle, they don't dry out, and they're unconditionally guaranteed...

I seriously doubt you bought jars from me. If you did, you should contact me about getting your jars replaced because what you describe is unacceptable.
