Found a new version of the Bible.....
    #4132131 - 05/04/05 01:03 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Well, I unfortuanetly got banned for a day, due to some comments I made. While I was away, I found that I was getting overly introspective, and felt that I needed to turn to the Bible for help.

Enjoy.

In a perfect world I'd say, wow great a way to bring the bible to kids, but it aint a perfect world and it is questiable if the bible should be brought to young kids because the influence of the adult misinterpreters of the bible could be too strong.

 It should be a choice, and not a mandate. I was forced to attend church and several denominations while I was little...

When your 5, you'd prefer a coloring book or sleep rather then listening to a bunch of people drone on for a few hours about the wonders of god.

As a kid I was never forced to be a christian, that is perhapse why I complain less about that religion than you

But there were times in elementary school, even in highschool one time that I was really religious in the christian way, I must say the faith did help me in a lot of things and really made me a more succesfull man in every way, but later I realized it had nothing to do with Jesus or chruch or whatever, it just made me a more determined person and had more hope, that's all

Later on I saw how stupid the whole worship rituals were and I turned away with no regret or sense of guilt. I still respect the person (fictional or real) of Jesus even today, but I see him as a kind of an intelligent and enlightened hippie guy rather than some religious icon. I often think what he would say about different things, and remember his words, but not in religious context but more like proverbs

So I'm not a christian for a long time, but since I was never forced to be one anyway I don't feel christianity as a threat, just a misguided group of people

Yeah, Oldwood, I always noticed you had a more balanced and less reactionary perspective. I was tortured with Christianity. So I get a little reactionary. I really don't mind it anymore as long as they don't start screaming that we are all going to hell if we disagree.

Jesus was a very cool hippie. I always loved that he choose to hang out with the low life because he felt they had the best chance for salvation.

No, I just like to complain, gives me something to do :smirk:.

I feel intolerant beliefs, and the ignorance associated with them, are a threat to society regardless of what form they take.

Various views as to the admiration and perfection associated with Jesus....

I like the values, and most of the morals associated with Jesus... but I feel that he has much too work on, concerning "perfection".

That's usually countered with the two exceptions being god and Jesus.

God meaning that old guy they say is up there somewhere? The guy the religious folks made in the image of man?  Now how could a man be perfect.  They must have made a mistake.

If there is "God". And it isn't the image of man. Then it would be everything that is. Then everything would be perfect, wouldn't it?

If we use logic yes.... however, most use a thing called "faith".

Very entertaining, although I think it is kind of a manifestation of someone who has too much free time on their hands hehe. Cool though!
