here's the story, six jars, and well I guess that's the story. Anyways, one of me jars has got some blue growing inside of it. I'm pretty sure this is some kind of mold because I recently loosened the caps on all my jars for a little exchange of this and that and accidentally screwed one top all the way off. I immediately corrected this mistake and hoped that no nasties entered. The mycelium is still running strong and my question is on the topic of brusing. Can incubating jars be bruised? there is a little excess space because I did not completely fill the top with dry verm and they are stored in a box under my bathroom sink so they get moved around quite a bit. Just wanted more experienced advice before I chucked it. "help wanted" really though, any help I would be most grateful for Peace
-------------------- When I try to get through,
On the telephone to you,
There'll be nobody home...
Last night I had 6 jars in my incubator and I noticed a little tiny bit of blue/light greenish sorta shit right under the vermiculite layer in one of them..so I followed my common sense "when in doubt throw it out."
Upon opening the jar and carefully breaking apart the cake with a spoon that little tiny spot that I have noticed was only about 2% of the entire mold size. Let me tell you the more I scraped out of that jar the worst it started smelling...it was disgusting.
So..I suggest you smell the jars that are in doubt...if your nose catches a hint of anything funky, toss it out!
