Cleaning a ultrasonic and cool mist humidifier

Just thought I'd throw this in the air....
Cleaning an ultrasonic::
Simply use white vinegar and a clean rag to clean the tank. To clean the transducer, use white vinegar and a soft bristled toothbrush. Wash both well then rinse well and allow to dry. Never use bleach or other cleaning chemicals for a ultrasonic. Never allow water or vinegar to get inside the base unit.
Cleaning a cool mist::
Just use a 10-20% bleach solution for the tank and impeller. Wash well, then rinse well.

Thanks MaddHatter!
Funny thing, for the first time today I actually seriously thought about cleaning that thing, and how to do it, then you came along!

I will never go near an ultrasonic humidifier again, ultrasonic fogger is where it's at. Soooooo much less maintenance.

Basically the same thing, an ultrasonic transducer.
But an ultrasonic fogger unit in a 3-5 gallon bucket rigged up right is kick ass

Hey no problemo. I just cleaned my cool mist today and there was ALOT of slimy gunk all in it. Not a good thing.

Yea but with a fogger you don't have to deal with tearing it apart to fill it up with water every few days, and you don't have to bother with tubing because it goes inside the chamber. Plus every ultrasonic humidifier I've ever owned has never lasted me more than 3 months.

Yea, I really wish they had a bigger reservoir.
What kind of water were you using? I've only been using distilled water in mine and they've lasted nearly 2.5 years. I clean them every 2 months.

I just use tap water in the cool mist, but clean it every time it needs to be refilled. Soap and water work great too. RR
