New As All Fuck

Hey guys,

I'm new as all hell to anything concerning shrooms. I've never done them, and never grown them, but I'm definitely looking to. I've got pretty good ammount of experience in growing herb, but thats it. I've got a shitload of quesitons, and I know everyone's gonna just say go to the FAQ's, which I am doing. One big question though, is I don't even understand what a mushroom needs to survive, like... the necessaries for growing them. I have no idea what the whole "Mushroom Life-Cycle" is, or anything like that, just really general stuff. I haven't been able to find this basic information in the FAQ's, so if someone could help me out, that'd be awesome, thanks.

This is not too technical.. but here goes:

Adding spores to sterilized grains/water in a mason jar of varying sizes.

Then there's the incubation time that takes between 10 & 30 days depending on how exact you are, and what you're growing media is/ temps.. etc. many factors.

Then, you may do many things once the jars are 100% colonized (eaten by the mushroom spores.. turned to mycelium "mushroom roots")
You may:
put em' under light right away and grow
case them.. which involves crumbling your cake (what was in your jar) into a container and putting a wet, non nutritious layer of whatever you choose to case with... wait a week THEN put under light
do a bulk, which you mix up the cakes with poo or straw or compost.. whatever.. then wait, then case.. THEN fruit (put under light)

Mushrooms need nutrition to survive. They grow on many things such as birdseed, rye, vermiculite/brown rice flour. Then they need time to eat the nutrition. then they grow under good conditions.

Read the TEKs and ask questions as you go. Nobody is too pissy here.

Just a laid back community of mycophiles... some myconauts. LoL
