"the bulk neglect report" -- your thoughts, O wise ones?
    #4125793 - 05/02/05 10:34 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23534 is the tek in question.

i have about 25 pounds of h.poo thats done leaching now, i have half a dozen jars of colonized substrate that will be ready in 4 days. i have access to hay, and plenty of it. i also have a couple 90 quart rubbermade tubs laying about.

i think i'm ready to step it up a bit, just for the sake of fun. that and i want some really cool pictures, haha. is this a good tek for a semi-newbie with a track record of 0% contams?

Under his instruction, I taped drumsticks to his head and turned him into a sort of mummy, or perhaps a caterpiller in a cocoon. He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.

it seems that 25 lbs. would require a lot of spawn. hope those six jars are big.

First of all (and very important: Youd need straw not hay!)

Secondly: If you want to mist only once a day, then youd really need a big container like in the guide. Otherwise I fear youll get small crippled shrooms cause of the CO2 levels. (See my current grow) If you already have tubs, search for "double tubs" and try that.
Good luck,

Jazz

er straw. either way  and uhh, 90 quarts is huge. i can even leave the top only lightly covered like they did.

and i didnt necessarly mean i had to use all 25 (wet) pounds at once haha...

Bulk neglect is pretty hard to f' up.

Plastic over the casing and a hearty misting everyday works fine. Here's a concise write up to give you ideas.

why is it so important that you use straw versus hay?

the whole "do this not that" without any explanation does nothing to further the knowledge of anybody asking a question. its like asking my parents why i couldnt go out when i was young and getting "because i said no" for a reason.

but where are your grow pics?

oh and erags that link doesnt seem to work...

how about searching? That would kickstart your knowledge and reduce questions to a minimum. But many people just decide to post, and so to answer many people you get short answers.
Hay doesnt keep the moisture inside itself, it just goes damp all voer. Thus it contamns easily and out of experience it surely will.

Wheat straw is the stalk and certain parts of specific plants, hay is dried grass of varying types and so they are entirely different in nutritional content as roadkill pointed out to me so descriptively a few days ago...

thank you roadkill.

jazz- i spent two months lurking and reading posts and all the other relevant beginner info on this website before i ever attempted any of this or even registered to use the forums.

details i read a long time ago get fuzzy (:bongload:), and sometimes i have very little luck getting relevant info from the seach. its not like i'm sitting here going "hI guyZ why Do i NeEd To sterIliZe? Blah BLaH bLah.."

sorry if i sounded that way, i wasnt offended. i was just trying to clarify why i asked.

i think there's something wrong with the way my browser's set up--i get weird results when searching on some sites, whether with google or the site search, in this case.

Leave out the Hay. It has no nutrion that you want and to much nitrogen. Use coir and verm to get a nice texture and it will work out beautifully with no hay or straw.

I do add about 5% straw (chopped in a blender) along with coir, verm and worm castings. However I've used straight hpoo and verm with excellent results.

And coir added helps even more during the spawn run. Not much...like 15% coir and 15% verm.

NP, but if you start the bulk, could you do a grownlog and send me a short pm with the URL? That would be great! - Thanks
