Transplanting carrots? Good luck... I'm munching down a crop of homegrown carrots right now. I just found out that I like roasted carrot, mmm.

I saw those in the seed swapping thread, they look awesome. I wonder how they taste

cool thanks.  ya, in past i have always planted in ground and i had experimented with plug type things before.  never knew they were hard to transplant though :frown:  tiem will tell, still have a few seeds left.  my main goal is to produce a bunch of seeds for future years.  eating will of course be a bonus

They will definately go good with a beef stew or pot roast.

Well honestly I havn't transplanted a whole crop like you are going to but I tried moving around some seedlings in the garden and it is very hard to plant the long thin taproot straight in the soil.

I'd say transplant them early as possible, they would probably still grow but they might look a bit mutated if the root is bent as it developes. Again, good luck

@ the orgainc farm I work on, we tend to direct seed carrots, but they can be transplanted, they just have to be planted very deep, and the long tap root shouldn't be disturbed..
