shroom hunting tips

i have pretty hard trouble finding shrooms. i have found inky caps before, and i found some growing off a rotting log in my woods, but i never ate any of them. i always get chased out by a bull or something, but i try really hard to be quite and i even stopped taking a flashlight with me. any1 in alabama that can help me??
