What does one need for a couple days in the woods?
    #4123998 - 05/02/05 06:00 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Just quit - taking a vacation, so im going to hitch around for a week - got a tarp, knife, lighter, fruit, sharpie, socks, pants, rain jacket, tent, sleeping bag, books, towel, long underware...

Gonna spend a couple days bouncing around the coast and camping in the woods - may be sheltered, may not be. taking a day pack.

Suggestions;

Matches dipped in wax so they are waterproof. The lighter can and will fail you if it gets wet.

Leatherman, not knife. More versatile.

Marijuana, mushrooms, LSD.

Book(s)? How much reading do you plan on doing?

A small pot so you can boil water, don't wanna be drinking any scuzzy shit.

go naked with enough psychedelics to stay high the whole time. I suggest some salvia, shrooms or acid, mabey some DMT. Lots of pot. 4ho-DET if you can get your hands on some. Should be good. Bring a blanket to wrap around yorself when you are wandering through the woods mad on drugs.

along with what you have above that should do it, Good luck.

Should be good.

edit ~ make sure you have a pen and a notepad so you can jot down key ponts of your conversations with the trees. They are very wise and have good things to tell you if you gain thier respect, otherwise they will just fuck with your head, but you will still get some hillarious dialouge to write down.

a gallon is not nearly enough water, get a purifier, and make sure youre close to a fresh water suppply, also for fire, take some lint from the dryer and mix it with wax, makes a good fire starter

i would reomend a phone, to be used only in emergencise, what area are you doing this in?

if you have to ask what you need to take into the forest, you shouldnt go into the forest for a couple days, solo.

don't bring the gallon of water, just a filter/purifier. water is too heavy to carry. bring a compass, maps if you have/want them, dried fruits, grains, nuts, rain gear, sleeping bag, a couple layers of clothes, first aid kit, something to tie your food up in a tree if you're in bear country, waterproof matches, utility knife, books, pen and paper, and wear good shoes. sounds like a long list, but if you pack right it won't weigh very much. also bring plenty of ganja and some acid and/or mushrooms. a flask of whiskey is also very nice. good luck, living like that takes some balls but it is very rewarding :sun:  i  nature

they are probably right, but if your the person i think you are and you live where i think you can do it relativly safe.  jsut dont be going for an adventure into the mountians.  being on teh coast makes life easy for not getting lost.  head west and you hit wwater....follow coast you eventually hit stuff.

we have beaver feaver in some water, purify it...that is one thing you DO NOT WANT!!!

have fun man.  go figure, the rains started

Yeah, Kadakuda reflects my sentiments -

Ive got a general idea on wilderness survival (first aid, camp set up, water/cooking.) and will only be hiking about 45 minutes away from highway/people - this is definately a spur of the moment type thing, and im not terribly voiced with camping in general..

I just got back from Shopping where i spent too much completely illogically on my visa - but will have the money to pay it back and still live for a couple weeks while job searching when i get back.

Fortuantely i recently traded some beans for a nice sleeping bag
- 2 days ago found a wonderful midsized Northface; Big Shot pack..

Now ive got -

1) Sleeping bag
2) Headlamp
3) hiking shoes
4) LSD, Mushrooms, + salvia (thanks for the suggestion)
5) glass pipe also recently traded.
6) lighter
7) Waterproof matches
8) water purification kit *ick*
9) 2 tarps
10) suntan lotion
11) 2 Bandana's
12) rope
13) 2 shirts, hoodie, polypropylene + waffle shirt/lowers.
14) Rain gear.
15) heat blanket/pads
16) towel
17) Sharpie
18) books + notebook
19) Pen/pencils
20) Knives.
21) utensils.
22) Soap.
23) socks.
24) Camera.
25) sewing kit.
_______
Food -

Trail mix + almonds
Pasta + oil
Stew
Apple's and oranges
Granola
Brown Sugar

and i think thats about it.

Oh money/visa and a phone.
