are these flashbacks??
    #4121410 - 05/02/05 01:10 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

well, i OD'd twice fairly recently (a month and a half ago, 1 week apart) and i remember this annoying ring in the hospital, its the sound of the heart moniter machine i think. its like a buzz buzz sound, its in a pink floyd song as a phone ring, anyways.

when i listen to that song, or hear the sound, i dont see anything, but i am reminded of the horror of my hospital visits, and i get a mental image of lying in the bed, are these considered flashbacks?

PTSD flashbacks unless you've eaten a lot of acid.

Will pass in time, come to peace with what happened and treat it as a learning experience and I am sure they will pass.

edit: I'm retracting my remark about ODing on DXM. I haven't seen enough pertinent information about DXM and flashbacks. IME I've eaten a lot of DXM, and I rarely get any, but that's probably from the acid. They are most likely post traumatic stress disorder induced flashbacks, best thing you can do is talk it through with someone. The more you worry and keep going over it in your head the worse it's gonna get. It's a lot harder than it sounds, I know, but if you just let it go they will disappear.

oh, yeah i figured that as much, but are these technically flashbacks? because the only flashbacks i hear of can cause car crashes and stuff (say your driving and have an LSD flashback) but mine are just a mental picture, they wouldnt affect my actions, so are they still considered flashbacks?

No.

You'd probably know if you had PTSD.

Sounds like adversion conditioning to me. The noise reminds of you of a shitty time. You need to recondition yourself. listen to the noise and then do something you like (go smoke, eat some candy) whatever you like, eventually you'll associate that noise with good, instead of bad. good luck.
