casing always drying out/walls highly condensated...
    #4120304 - 05/01/05 08:54 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

ok i'm starting to get frustrated...my casings always seem to look like they are drying out every 8 hours or so, but the walls are showing signs of too much humidity, if nothing else.

i can spray to my heart's content initially, but one they start pinning i have to mist carefully, which only seems to raise the RH.

suggestion?

Under his instruction, I taped drumsticks to his head and turned him into a sort of mummy, or perhaps a caterpiller in a cocoon. He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.

How hot is the temp inside, is the chamber near a hot lamp or sunlight?

If so place away from that heat source, and fruite at room temp.

well they're somewhat near my heater, but only enough to raise the temp a few degrees above room temp...my tubs are about 74*F, my room is prolly around 69-70*

Hmm...

Condensation is a sign of temperature difference, not humidity.

What is the RH inside your chamber?

around 85-90%.

also i forgot to mention that the 74* was not of the air in the tub but the bottom of the thermometer is about 1" under the surface of the casing, putting it about halfway into the substrate layer. so really 74* is my substrate temp.

Do you mist regularly?

i mist when the casing layer shows signs of drying...and when there are not lots of pins i mist to the point of "near saturation."

if there are pins i do occasional mists from far away to minimize water sitting on the little buggers...
