ID of these hawaiin mushies
    #4119292 - 05/01/05 03:48 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

While in hawaii over spring break i came across a few interesting mushrooms. All I had to take the picture was my cell phone, so the quality is not very good. They have a long white stem, really skinny and fragile. When it gets to the cap, its almost upside down. the cap looks like and empty pie crust, the sides roll up into the middle, making something like a bowl. Any help on ID?

There are two standing in the picture, and a few that have already fallen over. Thanks for any help

they defiantly were not wilted flowers, i can assure you of that. I got a good look at them and made sure they wernt. Plus, they sprung up over night, it was right outside of my room. All I know is that when I went out in the morning to get coffee they were sitting there on the door mat

Thoose are Coprinus spicies which are also known as inky capped mushrooms. They are deliquise. That is they eat theirselfs up by mid noon each day they appear.

They are common in horse manured compost heaps and in the manure of four-legged ruminants.
