How many years has he been Fed chairman now?

No need to be uppity, Tao. It was just a rhetorical question.

That wasn't a rhetorical question.

"Gosh, Greenspan has sure been in office a long time hasn't he?"

Do you have a point, then? I mean, if you were to imply that he had been the chairman for so long, now, that it's almost like his head of made of interest rates, then I would understand. Rhetorical questions have their place for hypothetical situations, but rhetorical posts cannot create hypothetical posts, hypothetically.

So, do you have a point, then?

Yes, my point is that he has been the chairman for around 15 years or so now. He has always been articulate, and that is admirable, but in recent years he has become more noticeably conservative, and I would even say he is starting to become just another pawn of the Bush administration, especially since he approved the tax cut. Plus we've been through a couple of recessions in the past decade or so, although those cannot be blamed entirely on Greenspan, clearly.

Tao, a rhetorical question is one that's used to produce an effect (make an assertion), rather than to elicit a reply. My question was meant to suggest that perhaps there are better men for the job, as 15 years is a long time for any political office. I'm not too sure why I'm explaining myself though.
