I got an iPod!

I got a brand new 20 gig one. It was $299.99. I am enjoying it. I put over 100 cd's on it (at 128 bps) and I only took up 5 gig. The sound isn't bad at all. I was worried that the 128 bps would be of low quality, but it sounds decent with good headphones. If I was going to hook it up to a really high quality home stereo system, then I would probably want at least 256 bps. But, I am only walking around and listening to music on my crappy stock stereo in my car, so a high bit rate is not necessary.
I am fucking excited! I love having all of my music in a tiny little box.

I just got a 5gb Creative Labs Nomad Zen the other day. I absolutely love this thing. Its so damn small, I take it with me everywhere. Its great to be able to listen to music while buying groceries or walking to class, or doing anything. It's also given me an incentive to walk to places that I would usually drive to. Best $200 ever.

Definately. It is so cool having your entire music collection on a tiny little box. My only concern is that this thing continues to work and is durable. So far, everything is OK but I've only had it for 24 hours.
According to the reviews, MP3 players seem to be very touchy appliances. On Amazon.com I read the reviews for every player there is (iRiver, iPod, Creative, Samsung, etc....). For every three good reviews, there is one horror story. That is kind of scary....but we'll see how it works.

Yeah, the one thing that really bothered me about the ipod is that you can't replace the battery yourself. I've had my Nomad for a week now, and for the most part its been fine, but it did freeze up on me once, which was rather worrisome. I had to pop the battery out and put it back in to get it working again.

I've had my i-pod for over a year now with no problem. Still charges like the first day I bought it. I have heard some one here say that an i-pod's battery only last like 18 months but I don't know how valid that is.

I got a 30GB photo iPod not too long ago. They are amazing little things. Having all your music in your pocket is so cool.

I've got a 40 gig iRiver H340 + a pair of Shure EC3 earbuds - it rocks. line in/out. crisp full-color screen. audio recording. movies. picture viewer. plays .ogg. text file reader (have a few books on it and other notes) ability to modify boot/shutdown screens - it is also skinnable. no need for any software. The audio decompression sounds better than the ipod. fits easily in my pocket like a pack of cigarettes.

the player was $399, but I had several gift certificates saved up, so I only payed $150 out of pocket. the buds were $90 I think.

i suggest a "podsleevz" protect your screen and click wheel.you can use it right through! macaddict gave it 4 out of 5. those pod skins suck they get stuck in your pocket and make it get to hot. and dont protect the screen or clikwheel. which in my opinion is the most important.
