newbies first grow*UPDATED WITH PICS*
    #4117602 - 05/01/05 04:58 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Hi everyone.

Just thought I'd show you the fruit of my labours so far. I'm using the PF Tek for simple minds. 4 jars, with no contamination. Colonization took between 10 and 13 days. I used Alien's Incubator and a poor mans pod, fully automated. The strain is Thai, I got the spores from Shaman in The Netherlands. These cakes have been in the fruiting chamber for about 4 days now. Checkout the beautiful mycelial growth. Is it called rhizomorphic????

Pretty good for a newbie, I reckon.

And a big thankyou to everyone who is involved with the Shroomery, in every way. You guys made it simple.

I'll keep you all posted with more photos.

Yes indeed they started pinning today. All over the place!

I know it's a bit hard to see, but to me it looks so beautiful!

I feel like a new father.

I'll put up new pics in the days ahead.

Hey everyone, check out the fruiting on the first 2 cakes I put in the fruiting chamber.

Looking pretty good!

Oh yeah, I forgot to say they were dunked and rolled.

Rock on,

Waysgoose

The cakes are just plain ole PF Tek, BRF and verm, with a layer of dry verm on top.

I inoculated the cakes and took the foil off as soon as I put them in the incubator.

What were the incubation temps?

My point is.,....There's no way brf colonized that fast....Unless you used an Lc or just had horny spores :smirk:

Incubation temps were a pretty constant 26-27 degrees celsius( around 79 - 81 f). I made my own spore solution from a spore print. Just horny spores I guess.

well, here's some pics of what is soon to be my first harvest.

Not a bad first harvest, though I must say I'm a little disappointed at the size. Is this just the way this particular strain grows?

Still, I reckon I'm gonna have a good weekend.

Take care all,

Waysgoose

cake harvest tends to be a bit disappointing by weight when it comes down to it. move up to casings when you're ready and you won't be disappointed when you get those right.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Yeah I'm keen to try casings after this grow. The wet weight of the flush off the 2 cakes was 55 grams. Should be enough for me and a couple of friends to have some fun tomorrow night :smirk:

Take care all,

waysgoose
