Psychedelic Ambient

This post is kinda a take off the Magic Sound Fabric thread. It was good to see a relatively unknown artist get a recommendation and have other people enjoy it. I mean, this is what this forum is about, is it not? And since I listen to a lot music along that same type, I thought I'd share some other artists that play psychedelic music. I'll list some acts and give a short opinion. Hopefully someone will find it useful and get some new good music to listen to. I really do think psy ambient is the best music to listen to while tripping, but thats me.
Here we go.
1. Shpongle - Yeah yeah, everybody on this board knows them, and for good reason. They're the best.
2. Shulman - This man makes some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Only Shpongle layers music better than this guy.
3. Entheogenic - Just check em out, beautiful beautiful music.
4. Ott - Dub master. Basslines that just grove straight into your soul. Great to put on during a trip that is turning bad. His album Blumenkraft is just pure dub bliss. Nothing but positive vibes.
5. Phutureprimitive - Only Shpongle surpasses where this guy can can take you during a trip. His album, Sub Conscious, is deep, dark amazonian-jungle music. You know an album is going to be good when the beginning of the first track starts off saying "The first few minutes will be very disorientating, remember to stay calm and focus." This album is very dark though, not for every tripper.
6. Androcell - Album is called Emotivision. The last track, one of my favorites of all time, called Fungus Garden, is mouth dropping. Everything fits together and flows perfectly.
7. Bluetech - Double album, Prima Materia and Elementary Particles. Just check him out.
8. Ooze - More bass, though not as "groovy" as Ott, still great music. Album is called "Where the Fields Never End".
9. Gaudi - Newest album is called Bass, Sweat and Tears. Very very ethnic sounding. Great but simple basslines and that will have you bobbing your head and tapping your feet the whole night. Even has a song of Gaudi playing a theremin which is pretty cool, even uses a sample that talks about it.
10. Govinda - Not really psychedelic, I guess some parts can be, but I just threw this one in cuz it is some of the sexiest electronic music you'll ever here. Great for those "special" trips with the opposite sex.
11. Ishq - Not really psychedelic, but just some of the best damn ambient music you'll ever here. Perfect for the meditation waiting to come up to the trip or ego loss during one of the peeks. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
12. Kaya Project
13. The Kumba Mela Experiment
14. Omnimotion
15. Zero One
Thats it for now, I know I'm forgetting some but hopefully some people out there can add to the list.

oh my god, such a beutifull thread!
18. Younger Brother - a flock of beeps 19. Makyo - yakshini 20. Casino vs. Japan - whole numbers play the basics 21. Four ter - Rounds (don't know how bluetech could be mentioned and not four tet) 22. Isan - Meet me in the next life
Ther are so many more artists to explore, but I'll settle down a bit and leave it at this for now.

27. Future Sound of London - album = Lifeforms (I can't beleive I forgot this one.)
28. Healer
29. H.U.V.A Network

Where is Boards of Canada!!??
At first I thought Shpongle was The best band until I started to understand BOC. Seriously, if you can get your hands on
Geogaddi and Music has a right to children, you should give it a try, it has this really weird ambiance where everything fits but there is always strange voices crawling from everywhere.

Boc does need a mention in this thread. I was trying to go with less obvious artists in my post, but you are correct. For anyone who does not know, BOC is the shit. Check 'em out.

Bahhh, BoC is good, but nowhere near Shpongle. I actually find BoC to be highly repetitive and I get really bored with it after a few songs.
And by my first post, I'm more into the use of ethnic instruments and music that changes many many times per song. I can only stand the same beat over and over for 8 minutes for so long.

I'd also add
- Asura - Code Eternity, really mellow and relaxing tune.
As a matter of fact if you like Carbon based lifeform, Asura, Aes Dana and Solar Fields you might want to check out
www.ultimae.com
They are all on this label and theres other artists like them on that site, you can listen to the cds and some live sets.
You might want to check the Farenheit Project serie.
Entheogenic is also pretty Shpongle like and very good with tons of Mckenna's quotes. He has two great albums. Kukan Dub Lagan - Life is Nice is also of that type.
Medicine Drum is kick ass Ethno Trance stuff check out Talking Sticks, it's his best album.
Tabla Beat Science is a group from San Fransisco that's a lot into hindu/electronic music and they do it pretty well.
The Infinity Project ( TIP) is an old group with a lot of today's talented psy artists ( Raja Ram, Posford etc)
Mystery of the Yeti part 1 and 2 are really deep and ambiant music ( check out Herbal Garden by Hallucinogen)
Another obvious one is The Orb ( I'd suggest listening to Live 93 if it's your first time with this artist)

Lots of good stuff here! For those who haven't found it, www.saikosounds.com has got to be the best place to sample music like this! They give you over 2 min of every song on albums. Plus, they have hard to find stuff.

That was my whole intention for this thread, man.
I've only used Psyshop.com to order my psy ambient CDs. They've been real good to me. I'll try Saiko eventually. See how they do.
Thanks for the replies guys.

You mentioned Ishq, and they are really interesting sounding for ambient music, but you have to check out "Mantram" by Steve Roach, Byron Metcalf, and Mark Seelig. It is so powerful and peaceful! Again, its not tweaked-out psychedelic and its not for every tripper. Just those that want a peaceful trip.

I've never heard of Psychedelic Ambient but out of curiosity I just downloaded Shpongle - Believe... Sweet jesus this is crazy music. It's tripping me out and I'm not on anything. Good thread, I'll check out the other acts mentioned as well.

Phatwhitey, I don't think shpongle has a song called Believe. I could be wrong, but I haven't heard it if it is their song. Get anything off the album Are You Shpongled? and you'll see why so many people here like these guys, especially while tripping.
