This is all the humidification you'll ever need to succeed with casings.  It's all I use.

Yep, mist once or twice a day. Just enough to keep the casing layer wet. Spray bottle works wonders. You can even spray the chamber walls to increase humidity more. This is why casings > cakes, because of lower humidity requirements.

Diver, I've been thinking about filling a 60ml syringe full of 6ml h2o2 and the rest water and then injecting that down the sides of my casing containers so the myc will absorb that up, to go along with misting. Ever tried that? Just trying to assure that the substrate is moist enough. Thanks.

I add moisture. (joke)

You need to be more specific about the type & size fruiting container you intend to humidify, as in PMP, TIT, Martha, or other.

Have done stuff like that in the past, yeah, (minus the peroxide) and it worked out ok, but the important thing is to provide drainage so your substrate doesn't drowned in a puddle. Dunking inbetween flushes will be a lot more effective.

Do you plan on being able to attend to this grow? If so, just spray mist it and fan. If not, look into rigging up a cool mist on a timer.

I just don't want to fuck up the pinset with a dunk. I suppose just a draining would be okay...I'm still learning at this so I suppose next time around I'll give that a go.

if your container is proportionate to the size of your casing, you shouldnt ever need to mist. Usually the moisture the casing gets after a dunk is enough to last it through its flush and into the next dunk. how fast your casing dries out also depends on how tight your lid is on your chamber, and how low the humidity is in your room.

Please don't give out advice like that, it's not realistic.

"Yep, mist once or twice a day. Just enough to keep the casing layer wet."

Do you need a super fine spray mister to do this without aborting the mushrooms?

no, just dont mist them directly, like shoot up at the air so that the mist lands on it, and dont overdo it.

I use a tub with a rack for three 1qt casing "logs" (I call them such due to the long, rectangular shape of the pie tins I use to make them). The tub is clear, probably around 2ft long, 1.2ft wide, and 4in deep. The rack was stolen from my fridge, and happens to fit just perfectly in the tub, supported maybe 3in from the bottom. I cover the bottom of the tub with wet perlite. Then, as a lid, I use an identical tub, turned upside down. When I mist, I mist the "lid tub" profusely, and nothing else. Works fantastic.

By the way, I highly recommend the rack method because it allows shrooms to grow in all directions, increasing yields; just make sure the log is completely encased in casing substrate.

Jump ahead 10, maybe 20 years, and you're married, only your marriage doesn't have that same energy that it used to. You start to think back on all the girls you ever met, and what might have happened if you picked up with one of them.

Yes, I fan every time I mist. I do so probably 8 times daily.

I wish I had a camera so I could share a clearer picture (pun intended?) of this!
