How much longer?
    #4115813 - 04/30/05 08:24 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Im not trying to sound like the typical noob but my cakes dont seem to be working!  They just grow this thick yellowy mycelium, I thought maybe knobs? but theyre growing slow and I dont even have primordia >_<  my casings are going great, but my cakes arent happy :frown:  There runnign ina PmP with 95+% humidity (hygrometer is ghetto) but they constantly have temperature drops from 72-67 degrees and back because I cant keep its chamber at a stable temperature with the space I have to work with :frown:

*Edit* Here are pics of todays cakes >_<

As you can see the last picture is the only cake I have that DOESNT look like this.

To me these look like a contam, but then they also look ike extra think mycelium growth, in pictures numbers 1 2 and 4 you can see that its starting to grow OFF the cake, so maybe its a really big fatass without a cap? ;P Thx guys!
Thanks guys

How long have they been in the pmp?  If you could get your temps up a couple degrees it should go a little better... GL bro :stoned:

A picture would help for the yellowing part, but your description is similar to my cakes that are fruiting now. How long have they been in the pmp? Are you regularly fanning them and giving them light?

Yeh Pics b up soon, but I kileld the batteries in my Digicam >_< Been in the PmP for about a week now I think? but yeah, the temps lke 75% of the time lower than 73 degrees >_< I set a space heater near it, but it only bumps the temp like 3 degrees, what do you all do? I give them indirect light from sunrise-sunset daily and even though PmP dont need fanning or misting I still fan 3x a day and mist 3x a day :P like the stuff really looks wierd, I dont see ANYTHING saying its bad, everybody says its just extra hard mycelium or somethin( Ill throw pics tomorrow) thx guys

P.S. Should I toss my casings in the PmP too? or use a seperate fish tank terr with perlite?

Usually takes about a week for pins.  With your slightly lower temps it could extend it some more.  Sounds like you're right on schedule for your setup.  And you can go ahead a throw your casing in there too, it shouldn't be a problem at all...  GL bro :stoned:

I played around with differnt methods for casing though so Im not sure if they can all go in the PmP    I put wet verm about 1/2 inch or less on the bottom, then sliced and some crumbled cakes and then about 1/2 inch of a 50/50+ Peat Verm Lime Shell mix, then I misted some with a h2o2 /water mix and then covered with saran wrap, poked holes in some of the saran wrap and didnt mist or poke for some of the others.  Repatched my large casing earlier today, and threw it back in the incubator for a day to birth him tomorrow

Doesn't look bad, I wouldn't worry. Nothing nasty about those pics.
