Rhizomorphic and....
    #4112073 - 04/29/05 05:18 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I stabbed 5 jars with B+ and one jar with Amazon about 2 weeks ago. Everything appears to be going well. My question is... fuzzy lookin' mycelium is in fact mycelium correct? I just wanted to make sure there is no cobweb going on and the only thing that makes me think this is the fact that most of the jars have rhizomorphic growth happening and some just have a white fuzz growing. I'm pretty sure mycelium can grow in two different ways but I wanted to make sure. any help appreciated.  :mushroom2:

Mycelium can grow in different ways, but some mold can look similar to the 'cottony' type of mycelium. Usually, but not always, mold will grow faster. Keep an eye on the fuzzy stuff! It should be really clear if there's a problem after some more colonization.

Check if the colors match in the more colonized segments. If its mold it will also usually colonize much faster than mycelium.
