Optimal lighting for fruiting P. Cubensis ?
    #4112193 - 04/29/05 08:09 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I'm using a 40 watt floresent bulb (heavy in the blue spectrum) on a 50/50+ casing project that's about 1 week into the fruiting process ... it seems like everything i read says something different from "oh, just a couple of hours a day is fine" to... "do 12 and 12" etc.. any experienced thoughts on the matter ? right now I'm just turning it on (and off) periodically throughout the day. Is it best to have a set schedule ? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Peace & Love...

TrippleM

you are mimicking nature. approximately 12 on 12 off. other variations will work, of course. regularity is good, although I suppose other mini-schedules could work too.

30 watts seems a bit high unless you have a big grow chamber if your going to use a florescent i would use a f8t5 or the biger t5's if you have a big grow chamber

like Magash quoted above, according to the first mushy bible, 12-16 on/24 hours during the whole cycle. but, as you have seen, there is a lot of variety of possibilities. so, trippleM, you are still hearing the same stuff as when you asked--anywhere from 6 hours to 16! we've probably all have success using ALL of these times.

i've got a sixty watt (non-florescent) a couple feet from a medium-sized plastic growing container with good pins and no problems so far... also have a florescent 30 watt energy bulb (60 watt output) for a bigger martha set-up. also working fine. there is a fair amount of room for variation.

i use 8watt fluroescents and those are fucking bright and warm too but T5's give off more light per watt than any other fluroescent and the 12" fit perfectly in a tub any size really

I use a 4 watt bulb. I bought a nightlight from walmart for $2. It provides perfect light for my 6 casings. I try to give them 12/12 or a variety of that. Light on during the night when I sleep, off during the day (covered)...

Any light combo should work out for you
