does green mold start as thick bright white growth then turn green after about a day? if so, my casing is dead. i originally thought the mycelium had started blueing from bruising/drying out, but now it's turned more greenish.
i cased with plan verm. so i thought i would be cutting out a lot of the contam risk. is coco fiber supposed to be even more contam proof? my technique was fairly sterile, but then i messed around with it too much when it was colonising i think.
oh well, at least i only cased 2 of my 6 cakes. now i really should have listened when people said, 'just follow the pf tek for your first attempt!'.
That is exactly what green mold does. Sucks cause you think you got some nice thick mycelia and then it turns to shit. Eventually you will come to know it before it actually turns to green...there is a distiniction between that you can recognize with a little practice.
Green mold is usually something that is introduced by us not something that just didn't get sterilized properly.
