Casinos And Mystical Powers
    #4111778 - 04/29/05 06:02 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

If mystical powers existed, why don't mystics ever play roulette and become rich?

If mystics could do half the things they claim they could do, it would be a simple matter for one to slowly, so as not to arouse suspicion, milk a casino and get rich. If done carefully, the casino would never know who it was, though the gentle probability slew would be discernible long-term.

Yet every casino on Earth consistently preforms e-x-a-c-t-l-y as predicted by Probability Theory. How can this be?

Sure, I know, all mystics are saints and would never abuse their powers for financial gain; not even the ones who make millions duping the gullible on TV and through book deals.

Mystics are clouded by all the "negative" energy in the casino. But I can do a reading on you for only $100...

Haven't you ever seen "Rain Man"?

Yeah, its all bunk of course. The exception being people who have a certain intellectual gift and use it to increase their odds. This is much different than a mystical power or telling of the future, etc... That's why Miss Cleo is in jail and not in Vegas (or whatever kind of punishment she received).

Well, Diploid, these psychics have connections to the divine realm of the heavenly dimension that they refer to as "spirit guides."

Apparently, Casinos and Las Vegas are too densely populated with light-rays and all sorts of localized radiation, which disrupts the sacred bond between the psychic and the spirit guide.

That doesn't explain why psychics haven't hacked into the Mega Million lottery, on the other hand... hmmm. Maybe the spirit guides would rather go bowling..

-grabs classique` pipe & tobacco and Sherlock Holmes hat-

Hmmmm.....

Reasearch about telepathy and similar phenomenons has debunked early 20th century theories about telepathy being radation.
Modern theories include some other kind of fields that arent gravity or radiation, but something third.
So no kind of light or radiation could in any way affect these mental phenomenons as they are in theory of this field of research

Ever see that Discovery Channel show called "Breaking Vegas"? Not mystical or anything, but this one group of physics students was going to figure out the roullette table so they could beat the odds.

Read the book on it: "The Eudamonic Pie".

Instead of attempting to break the odds, I would rather own the odds, so to speak.

That's the true way to "win", if there is any.

If only I were Native American... or Italian with "connections" and not the heavenly divine type.

Read "Bringing Down The House which is a true story of a group of MIT card counters that made a lot of money playing blackjack in Vegas, Atlantic City etc. until their faces became so well documented and spread around by casino security that they were banned everywhere.

There is nothing mystical about it, but their system required a lot of brains, practice counting, visual, hand, and verbal signals, teamwork, and many hours of play with a lot of money on the table to make their winnings. Basically, little money players keep a count at a couple of tables and signal the big money guys in when the count is most favorable to the player. Then a casual verbal signal would nail the count to assure proper betting. Like "man I wish I had a donut" could mean the count is plus twelve. These guys actually played in a six deck shoe and won that way.

It's an interesting read. The casinoes don't like to lose and roughed these guys up and did other things to let them know it was time to give up playing.

Funny how casino's kick out players who they arbitrarily decide are counting cards. I can see this if the players are using a pad or other device, but when they're counting cards in their heads... WTF, they're beating the casino at its own game and they get banned.

You have this strange notion called "fairness". The world is a predatory place where rules mean little-to-nothing.
