Crystal vs. Dark Syringes

Is there any real differences? Dark syringes are dark because there are more sopres in them right? Which one is better? I read on Ralphsters that he did an experiment and none of them came out on top.

Dark syringes are nice to look at, but in my experience it makes very little difference. All that counts is that there is an adequate spore load in the water, which doesn't take much.

Ditto ^^^. A dark syringe can give a noob a burst of confidence, but that's about the only advantage.

If you get to your last few cc you can suck in more sterile water and then you have a new syringe. You can do this more times with a dark syringe. The sooner you do it the better, i.e. squirt 5cc, suck 5cc.

Its not that hard to make sterile water, if done in a jar with an injection port there is very little chance of contamination

If your working in a glove box or next to a flowhood...you can do this.

you do this in open air...there is a chance of getting contams.

I ran test after test after test on this and all I can say is this. I'm a dark syringe person.

it stands to reason that germination and subsequent coverage will be better the more spores you pump in.

Dark syringes do look nice, all stuffed with spores and all, but... I've had more dark syringes contaminate, and really havent noticed a big difference in colonizing times. At most, a day or two difference.
Plus, if your doing liquid cultures, it doesnt matter at all. The culture will stop growing when the nutes get low, weather the growth starts from 200 spores or 2 million.
