Watching Blaine again tonight

Blaine: Pick two even numbers between 50 and 100 with no repeating numbers.

Swami to TV: "68!"

Volunteer picks 68.

Blaine: "68."

Volunteer: "That is incredible!"

Analysis: There are only six numbers that meet those criterion: 62, 64, 68, 82, 84, 86. If I do this to six ladies on Saturday night, 1 in 6 will be convinced I am a mystic and will sleep with me.

Audience member: There is NO WAY he could have known!

Tranlsation: I am way too intelligent to be fooled and because I could not detect the mechanism, it must be evidence of a genuine mystical power.

Anaylsis: People are very easily fooled ALL THE TIME.

never seen him preform that one before but pick a even no. between 1 and 1000 work the odds out for that and he still gets it.

David Blaine can't read your mind. He can't read anyone's mind, so he won't be able to do the trick with 1-1000...

...if that is what you were trying to say in your post.

What about:  60, 80, 100....?
.
Do you have to pick one even number, or two....?    Or was it suppose to be one even two-digit number (making 100 null)...?  :smirk:
.
Kinda~ confusing, unless it was supposed to be:
Pick a number between 60 - 88, both numbers being even, with no repeating numbers....
.
Either or, you still may have forgotten two of them - UNLESS I have misunderstood....?

nope not what i am saying. i said i have seen him ask people to pick an even or odd no. between 1 and 1000 and he still gets it, pretty big odds to get it right, even after many tries at it.

lies.

edit- im joking, i meant it in good humor - i just find it hard to believe and would have to see it myself. I really don't think he can read minds, but if you do, then thats cool.

OK, I am thinking of a number between 1 and 100....
You can pick ANY number you want between 1 and 100....
You can pick the same number as anyone else, but you should go with your first thought - not taking into account anyone elses....

I will send the number I am thinking of while typing this thread to Swami....

I will not tell anyone else....
Of course if someone gets it right, no one will believe it anyways....!
And if there are 100 different guesses, somone is bound to get it right....!

I think it depends on the lady. I believe most ladies would choose "Swami the entertainer" instead of "Swami the mystical" .

Blaine: Pick two even numbers between 50 and 100 with no repeating numbers.

If he can really read minds, then why the restriction on the range of numbers?

Why not negative 100 to positive 100?

Why not a letter from A to Z?

Why not a name?

Why not a ZIP code?

Because he's a trikster and not a mystic despite all his claims.

It absolutely amazes me that in today's day and age it's still necessary to explain to people that magicians don't really perform magic.

Edit: Maybe 'amazes' is not the right word... I mean, it's not really surprising, given the state of things... but I mean, christ... I've known that magicians are just tricksters since like 3rd grade. It blows my mind that there are people out there who believe in Magician's magic past the age of like.. 12... (and even that is an insult to some 12 year olds I've met...)
