If you add calcium carbonate to the cactus soil to up the pH, is it ok if it contains silica? I got some calcium carb from sporeworks, and it contains +/- 0.1% crystalline silica. (I assume this is ok for mushrooms, or why would they sell it.)

Also, does anyone water with a fungicide solution? Is it true that this can lower germination rates?

There seems to be some contention between whether to use bottom heat for germination or not. According to this:
Growing temperature: general range 70-90 F (20-30C) optimal finite range 72-75 F (23 C), with an overnight low of no less than 65F. During germination period the grow area must be covered with a shading medium to create 50% of direct sunlight intensity with humidity near 100%

Thus, if you were growing at room temperature, it would seem to be optimal. Any thoughts?

Abermelin, peyote guides are all over the net, just do a google. I have a few guides I copied to .doc files, so I don't know the url's for them... but I can send them to you if you want.
