retaining moisture
    #4108553 - 04/28/05 09:53 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

every time i use my micro-wave to sterilize my casing matrl. or verm for rolling, my matrl. dries out. i cook a couple min. at a time for 10 min. i tried using a tupperware with a lid to keep the steam in, but the lid blew off in 30 sec.
can i add distilled water to it after its done or does that defeat the purpose? any input is apriciated. i tried over saturating the mix prior, but it still dries out.

Into this house we're born, into this world we're thrown.

Here's what I do:

Use a large glass mixing bowl and add wet mixture to it, then I just set a ceramic dinner plate over the top, allows for air to escape, but not so much that it dries out.

See how that works for you, and good luck!

Use a LOT of water, like completely submerge the casing material. After it cools you can squeeze to achieve proper moisture content.
