New Gorillaz album a flop
    #4107886 - 04/28/05 05:07 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

It's called demon days and it's total fuckin crap.

Damon Albarn needed Dan the Automator so bad, and he got some other douche. The songs suck ASS. every last one, except the single.

I thought that Gorillaz first CD was a one-time deal.

Well, really, what did you expect? It's not like their first effort was anything special.

The first album was so catchy. I loved it. I listened to it many many times. I had all the songs stuck in my head all day. I guess you have to have a taste for it. The new cd does something different, on purpose. It's dark. I've heard the cd 3 times so far and I'm not feeling it. I feel like the cd is an apology. How could they not go with automater? I thought he was on this album! Fuck that!

I just finished listening to it.

Oh man, you were'nt kidding! What a piece of shit!

I was not huge on the first one, I liked it, but it rarley finds a place in my rotation, so I did'nt expect to be blown away or anything, but it just sucked ass the whole way through save for one minute and a half stretch through one song which I don't recal the title of. Guess the automator was even more valuable to this operation than I initially thought.

damn. :nonono:

The opening strings in Demon Days is really profound, I think I'm going to do a remix..

I don't like the new guy's flow as well as the last one. It sounds like he's doing that dirty south thing not so well, kind tripping on himself. Bubba Sparks does that style way better, in my humble O.

But I do like the direction everyone else on the album has gone. The mastering seems to be done in an old Beatles sorta rock fassion =)

I think you guys are just expecting it to be a rehash of there older album.

You just can't do that as an artist. Keep writing the same music. Sure by re-inventing you're self you might lose some audience, but you also gain some. I guess it's a trade off.

I liked the album too. I decided to check it, despite reading here that it wasn't very good, and found it to be otherwise.

are yall kidding? this album rocks!

i love it. everone i know likes it. listen to it more.

i love the whole thing, the whole approach.

poeople will learn to appretiate it.

and its not "a new guy"
del the funky was never really in gorillaz, he was on 2 songs. they did projects with tons of other artists, none of the rappers on the new album are the same... the one on feel good inc. that i assume you were talking about is De la soul... and you needa listen to the track november has come with MF DOOM again. that song kicks ass.

Dude, you know what I am talking about. The guy that is on alot of the tracks on the new cd, I just don't like his flow as well as the guy that did Clint Eastwood.

i understood what you said, and i agree, there arent many who are as good as del. hes a fucking lyrical mastermind. but i dont think you got me... none of the people on the second album are the same person... get me? every rapper, different. and i think MF Doom is up to par with del.

del collaborated with them because it was his buddy dan the automator (who mixed his deltron 3030 album)mixing the project.

i mean, hes only on 2 gorillaz songs for christs sake. clint eastwood and rock the house. he wasnt even on the remix of clint eastwood. he was just featured in a couple songs.

i think this CD is just another side of Gorillaz. It still has that Gorillaz sound, but is noticably different as a whole. Id much rather them do an album like this one than trying to go with a same old formula that sells.
