Which methods have you found to work best for sealing petri dishes after pouring and inoculating?

Parafilm is the best I've see so far.. I've seen people use plastic wrap they have cut down to about a 1.5-2 inch roll section, seems like a better idea, but I could not get the roll to cut very well.

Scotch tape. Fast and just about the right size.

I cut off a two inch long peice of Glad ClingWrap (breathable) off the roll, so you now have a 2 inch wide roll of cling wrap. Easy, and you can make like 5 or 6 little rolls from one roll. I think this stuff might be parafilm? Dont know

thats what i do too.  cant afford $20 for 250 ft of parafilm.  1 thing of cling wrap produces around 1200 ft of psuedo-parafilm and like $3.

Parafilm is awesome, but expensive unless you can get it for free

The cling wrap and tape all sound good.  Another option that might be sufficient for some people are the larger ziplock bags.  Quite a few petris will fit in them [or just one per small bag], and they're somewhat gas permeable.  It's not as good as parafilm etc., but much better than nothing at all.  It helps to store the clean ziplocks with your 'sterile' material and isoprop. the outsides of the ones being used between openings.

according to http://www.fungifun.org/agar/

"You can use any wrap, as long it?s made from polyetylene."

just make sure it is because not all wraps are polytylene
