Have you become more liberal or conservative?

Everyone's political views change as they grow up, how much have yours? When I was little (gradeschool/middleschool) I could be described as conservative. I had a very simple and militaristic view of the world and its problems. As I got into highschool I slowly turned into an extremely liberal person and I've since moved towards the center.
I'd describe myself as a moderate liberal now, I think it's important to evaluate your beliefs every now and then.
I think the general trend is for people to become more conservative as they get older. Conservatives will try to tell me it's because they get wiser which is obviously a load of partisan shit. My dad actually seems to have gotten more liberal as he's gotten older

Depends what you mean by liberal. Socially, I am extremely liberal, and believe in the legalization of prostitution, drugs, gambling, euthanasia, etc. Economically, I guess I'm more of a conservative, in that I don't believe I should have to pay for other people's health care or social security, and am against welfare and other programs.
So I chose fuck labels.

Generally, I'd say more conservative. I used to be socialist back in the day. Now, I'm mostly libertarian, though I do have issues with their traditional concept of land ownership. Basically, I believe in individual sovereignty and personal responsibility. But I also believe in the existence of the commons--that which belongs to all people in common--and that you need to give back what you take from the commons.

id say liberal but if anyoen knows BC politics you would know that "liberal" doesnt really mean "liberal" here...the leader is total righty and fucked up his party's image.
anyway. i grew up ultra ultra right. not sure how exactly it started but over my teen years i started going pretty far left. i remember thinking one whats fair. that got my head bending around some pretty far out shat compared to what i was lead to believe. by the by my parents were always center. i got most of my political veiws from school. but then a "political" veiw at that age is "how many cents i gotta pay for tax on my chips?!?!?! bastards!
sumary. was right, now left. like ideas from all corners.

I am a liberal... but less mindlessly allegiant to other liberal thinkers than I was in high school... so you could say I'm slowly getting more conservative, but thats not quite it.
i'm slowly getting less gullible, less reactionary, and thinking for myself more. Some 'liberal' stuff is nonsense, I can now see, just like some (most) 'conservative' stuff is.

was left wing when i was in high-school (socialist, really). now am much more left wing (anarchist, i guess i'd call it, but not in a jackass "hey let's wear black masks and throw bricks at mcdonalds" sense of the word...)
but i've also become a LOT more spiritual as i've grown older (ok i'm only 20 now, so there's still a ways to go, i guess) - and this has shaped my political views a lot.

I used to be staunch republican....when i was about 14, which is the perfect age for the type of mentality you need to be republican. I thank my dad for getting me into politics when i was so young, but he definatly indoctrinated me towards the right. From the 4th grade to the day i got a car and a license i listened to Rush Limbaugh everyday in the car ride to school. Now i am a libertarian, and my dad just calls me an amoral liberal. My step mom won't let me argue politics with him anymore because he has a heart condition. He told me to leave his house right before dinner when i brought up the topic of Rush Limbaughs drug addiction, I said "good, I dont like the taste of crow anyway".

There are a couple ways of looking at this. kadakuda was right in saying that liberals have little to do with actual liberalism. Politically labels have become so ideologically ingrained in people that the parties have little to do with following the real stated ideological outlooks.
I've become MUCH more liberal growing up, but that's considering I was a very conservitive kid (all family influence really). When it comes down to it, I can respect the differences between bigger government versus smaller government. I can't respect the current dilema in the US government though.
I am completely on the left side when it comes to social policy. Economic & governement spending, I tend to be rather mixed. Government programs can be extremely vaulable, but it really should be used to help people gain skills to be more independant, not just pork.
So in other words, I'm more pragmatic. Things aren't about ideology, it's about how politics actually play out.

hippies have absolutely nothing to do with this poll
i was raised very conservatively christian and have grown liberal since i've been on my own. labels don't mean much to me, and no one in the government, democrat, republican, or otherwise, seems to represent what i believe.

People here think I'm pretty conservative. When I was very young and impressionable I was very leftist. When I got older I got more conservative, but the more jaded I become the less right wing I am as well. It's like I relate on many levels to 'liberals' more, but there politics seem illogical and mindless to me. And while conservatives sometimes seem to make more sense the are far too rigid, judgemental and selfish. Then you have greens who are way extreme, and Libertarians who's philosophy is so perfect in it's theoretical abstract, but is wreckless when applied to reality.
Fuck labels. It's all just binary opposition. The things that make a person liberal are conservatives and vice versa. It's just like Britney Spears vs. Ashlee Simpson. Contrast is the fundation of all identity.
Edit: If you look at politics in terms of rigididy and openness, liberal or conservative I have always been very rigid and intolerant (as most we ascribe to those labels IMO), but I'm constantly becoming more open and free.
