Drug 'Posse' indictment today April 28, 2005 nypost.com
Leaders of a murderous drug gang that trucked tons of marijuana into Harlem for more than a decade will be indicted today by a federal grand jury - a move that cops hope will put the $10 million- to $15 million-a-year operation out of business.
"The Two Mile Posse saw the huge profit potential in this drug and exercised extreme violence to protect their illegal operation," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said yesterday.
The 19 suspects, who will face racketeering charges, had all been busted previously. But this is the first time they were linked to the ring.
Alleged kingpin Desmond Shaw, 47, of Harlem, and several of the others were involved in eight murders, including the June 2002 murder of a gang rival who was hacked to death on a Harlem sidewalk, authorities said.
