perlite / harvest time

-it's almost impossible to get perlite where i live. what can i use instead? heard vermiculite works...what do u think?
-i'm having difficulty to figure out the exact time to pick the shrooms, how can i be sure the veil is torn?

Vermiculite will work, just not as well as perlite. A suggestion that was made to me was to use styrafoam packing peanuts. Try it :)

P.S. Are you the same solrac from Supraforums? :P
