Political and economic, government played a larger role in reviving the broken economy. Most notably, the new deal and various government sponsored organizations. The overall trend led to great deficit spending by the government. The government invested in the economy to attempt to stimulate the marke t(give a little, get a lot). Deficit spending was the key point in his economic program.
World War II was a big deal (obviously). He basically treaded around war and most likely would have entered it without Pearl Harbor. His policies regarding hostilities against his shipping lines and his policies regarding the protection of his shipping lines indicated that he was highly biased towards the Allies (big surprise).

Thanks to Roosevelt's new deal, government has grown out of control and with it the robbing of hard working citizens' wages.
