couple random questions

1) What purpose does rolling your cake in verm after dunking serve?
2) Will bruising hinder flushing potential?
3) When a cake is 100% colonized will the inside look as white as the outside throughout the cake. I cut a chunk off of one of mine and noticed that for the most part it is still brown/grey like an uncolonized cake with the exception that I could see white myc. in between the chunks of verm.
I hope I didn't word that too retarded.
Thanks!

1) To provide a nice place for pins to form.
2) Within limits bruising is fine, don't beat your cakes up intentionally.
3) The inside is only colonized if it's colonized, the outside isn't a reliable indicator of this. If your spore solution dripped down the sides first and geminated there, it will give the appearance of being colonized, when in fact the inside has a long ways to go.

Diver is right. If you've got PF jars and the outsides are completely done.. wait a week or so until you birth. The insides take just a wee bit longer.

3) This is why i dont break up big chunks of seed when spawning and why i let cakes go another week or 2 after the outside has conlonized. Looks colonized but doesnt feel solid enough
Here it is after being cracked open, If i wasnt to crack it open it would be fine to use but since i opened it, its better to toss then to hope it colonizes

Well, I waited three days after the entire outside of the jar was colonized then out of curiosity, cut a wedge from one and noticed that mycelium growth was apparent throughout the cake but it wasn't as I expected it to look.
If you could imagine a chocolate almond bar for a moment I think I could better explain what I have noticed. Yes, I said a fucking chocolate almond bar. LOL!
Imagine the chocolate being mycelium and the almonds being chunks of vermiculite. When taking a bite from the chocolate bar, more than likely you are going to bite an almond right in half. So, it appears that there has never been any chocolate ever covering the almond(as there wouldn't be). When in reality the chocolate had at one time covered the entire almond but you had happened to bite an almond in half which of course would have never had the opportunity to be exposed to the chocolate during the forming process of the bar.
Is this essentially what I am experiencing or am I just a bit off my rocker?
Better yet, could somebody post a pic of what a fully colonized cake should look like from the inside?
L8rz!

It just sounds like uncolonized substrate. If it isn't healthy white all throughout, don't fuss with it. Look for cake pictures, they are all over this site.
