it's my favorite stimulant. (except the ocasional roll that happens to be a bit speedy ) It's like a jolt of caffine but stronger, it does not last as long but it does not make you feel like crap if you don't have it either (I have issues with caffine, although I love coffee, I try to limit my intake, it's acttually been over a month since I've had any) It tastes really good with some honey and/or lemon. I like to make mine really strong, so something to contrast the flavor helps alot, as it can get bitter, but it's alright on it's own. I've gotten into the habbit of adding it as an ingredient whenever I decide to make mushroom tea, as well. I like it.

it's a lot more peacefull than caffine. Although it's more powerfull, caffine gives me headaches and makes me a bit moody but I do not get this effect from mate. If you don't like stimulants at all then I would'nt bother. But I would'nt let a distain for caffine dissued you from giveing it a try. It's not like coke or anything, it's a very mild stimulant, I enjoy it.

Mate contains caffeine. A lot of it, actually.

But don't mix it with honey or lemon. Learn to enjoy the taste of the herb itself. I used to be quite addicted to it, constantly going around with a little gourd full of it all the time. Now I've weaned myself away and only have a cup every now and again.
