Jars too Wet?
    #4102069 - 04/27/05 10:58 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

i just PC'd some popcorn jars the other day, and i looked at them today. There are small rings of water around some of the kernals pressed against the sides. Also there is a very minimal amount of pooling at the bottom of the jars. It's barely enough to even move when you hold the jar at an angle. That is only the case on about 2 of the jars. I was just wondering if my jars are too wet, or if they'll be ok to inoculate with about 2cc of LC?

many of mine that are as you discribe do just fine, use a little less liquid to inoculate with and you'll be gold

tough call.
IME, you don't have to be able to see water rolling around in your jar for there to be too much moisture in there. it is POSSIBLE that you may wind up waiting longer than if you had just decided to cut your losses and begin again.
if you go much beyond what is optimal, then your colonization times will suffer. it also makes it more susceptible to bacterial contamination.

you might still be o.k., but again- this is why i said it's a tough call.

my oppinion can only be attributed with so much merit, though; i would wait for another one.
