Hey! Yeah those films tripped me out.
He reminds me of the "Anal Retentive" chef/carpenter/etc. played by Phil Hartman on SNL back in the early 90s.
Funny how he says, after inocing the jar, "Now do this for the rest of the jars..." and then you sit there for 3 or 4 minutes while he does them one by one. Lol...seems they could have shown something else instead lol!

The videos are pretty interesting to me, any idea when this was filmed? I like his super thin substrate layer in the aquariaum. How much grain was there, 1 inch at best?  Also, poking holes in the "stretch wrap" took forever.

Thanks a lot!!! Got to love all those
I am glad that all the effort put into getting these sceenes from VHS to Mpeg (finding someone of trust with a capture video card) and then hosting them was well worth.
It's a great adition to the shroomery community, good info for noobs, funny guy to watch for the more experienced.
Still haven't heard anything from any mods about sticking this for a while to let everyone see the video. Hope it happens.

You should see me when i work, it would shock alot of people, though i think i must work in a pretty clean aired environment, only ever had one contam, and that was in PF days.

That guy is sorta freaky, in the intro, he reminded me of a beatnick reciting poetry
But what struck me was the question we first heard of his sterilization techniques. It looks to me like the torch is pointed in such a way as to create a small "environment".?. Seems like it would be plenty adequate in an already clean environment, just don't breathe right on them.

I found it curious that he puts on rubber gloves and washes them with alcohol to remove the jars from the PC, then procedes to cut agar and inoculate in the open air without gloves or surgical mask. He also talks during inoculation with his mouth pointed right at an open jar of grain. That's a recipie for disaster. I hope nobody actually follows that advice. It goes against the most basic mycological principles. Perhaps it was filmed before flowhoods became widely available, but gloveboxes have been around for years and years.

yes, the video is awesome, but the editing job sucks and these clips are incomplete and incoherent.
of course, im not sure about taking shroom advice from a guy who sticks his contaminated hand in his sterilized medium, or one who uses a aquarium as the casing container.
i read the back of the video at a store (they lost the copy), and it mentioned picking out the best spores, as if that were possible without a microscope, i thought that would be cool to see how he approached that.
someone put up the complete movie instead of this poor excuse of a clip show.

You approach that, but spreading out spores with a loop onto agar, then when they germinate, take sections from the best looking mycelium and transfer to new plates, in effect, using the best spores.

I do wish you guys wouldn't do this. It is a copyrighted movie after all, and it is not that expensive to buy it from http://www.homesteadbook.com .

Yeah, I hope its the FULL video..seems rather large..the clips posted seem to leave alot out though, I dont know if it was left out of the whole video, or just what was made into clips..I'm only at 7.8%, started right when you posted it, whenever that was (30-60 minutes maybe?) and I'm on cable...
