How much do you run?

I just started a running program. i started at runnning a mile in 15 min. then it got shorter. i'm up to 2 miles in a little under 20 minutes. it's pretty sad but i NEVER had endurance for running... never ever ever. so this is a pretty big accomplishment for me. i've been building it up 3-4 times a week too.
what does everyone else do?

I jog back and forth from the gym 3-4 times a week. That's about 10 minutes each way.
And, if I'm up for it, I do one day of high intensity cardio every week. I run up and down a stairwell until I'm completely out of breath. Then I do 3 sets of sprints.
I'd like to run more, but I'm bulking (bodybuilding) right now. Any more cardio would hurt my gains. I used to run every few days. After a few weeks I was running 5 miles no problem. There's nothing like getting in the groove and just running! It's very relaxing on your mind + great for your body.
I still fear long distance running. It's painful and agonizing sometimes. But I always found that, once I started, I was happy to experience the pain. It makes me feel alive. It's even better than working out - nothing beats a good run. I experience a euphoric high after really pushing myself on a run. It's like I just snorted a line and nothing could stop me. It's the exact opposite feeling from depression. That's why I'd suggest running to anyone who's feeling depressed. It will make you feel better - guaranteed.
Remember to stretch. I usually jogged for about 10 minutes and then stretched my whole body before doing a big run. That's the only way to avoid cramps.
If you run in the morning without eating anything, don't run for more than 20 minutes. You will go catabolic and your body will start feeding off it's muscle for energy. This is a great way to burn fat since your body has no food to work off of.
Running after working out is also an excellent way to burn fat.

Same here... I miss my running-in-the-woods sessions. Id like to start cutting but thats too soon so Im pretty much only running to warm up.
I can run for 15-20 min easily at speed 1km/5min Most of the time its more of a warmup thing before working out or playing badminton tho. My best was 8km in 42 min if I remember right. That was NOT a warmup session

Dude, life is too short to waste it running. Running is only OK if you are doing it for an endorphin high, but BDSM does that better.
All you guys who run for 20 miles an hour 5 hours a day. You guys are gonna die too. Haha.

Back when I was in shape, I used to jog 10 miles every morning. At the time, I was holding between five and a half to six minutes per mile... not quite marathon pace, but not too far off either. Now I am only doing five miles every few days and my pace is down to 10 to 12 minutes per mile (with a lot of large (1200' verticle) "hills"). I do a lot more swimming these days than jogging.
> so this is a pretty big accomplishment for me.
To be honest, it doesn't matter how far you go or how fast you go... all that really matters is that you continue doing it. If you can keep it up for three months, you will be "hooked" and actually start to feel shitty when you don't get out and do something.
> what does everyone else do?
Swimming and diving both... not to mention lugging a couple hundred AL80 scuba tanks around every weekend... plus a bit of rock climbing. I used to go climbing every single day when I was in Colorado, but there isn't much worth climbing down here...

What you are experiencing is adrinalin, you probably knew this since you are into that kinda thing. It is the best high that you can get without drugs IMO, well that and meditating.

Way to go
It is great that you're able to get out there, just a bit of advice, make sure that you ride a bike or swim also. Running every other day is OK as long as you strech well AFTER.
It's common for runners to ignore pain, and not want to cross-train, this leads to injuries, and once you're injured, it's about 60% more likely to happen again.
The endurance will come. If you really want to get serious, I'd suggest a heart-rate monitor, you can usually find them cheap(under $20)at Box stores. This piece of equipment will tell you the optium amount of effort to expend to improve your sessions.
Beware of running on a track or too much concrete, get new shoes every 300 miles or 6 months.
NEVER increase your mileage more than 10% per week, and take it easy on the hills till you know what you're doing.
Try combining running with singing If you have not already, start a journal. Runner's World magazine usually has deals where you get a free training log and year subscription for about 20 bones.
Slow and steady wins the race.

I walk for about 30 mins, and then jog for another 30, I am trying to do this just about every day or at least every other day. I am not sure the exact mileage since I am just running around my neighborhood but I know its over 2 miles. I've been just about completely inactive for the past 10 years so it's a pretty big step for me.

i play soccer. i run a 3 mile loop when its nice out, that usually ends up being twice a week, i also play soccer atleast 3 times a week. i typically run and play soccer on the same day. if im not doing either i smoke a bowl. i find that the smoke from marijuana really doesn't detract from my ability to run distance. anyone else find this to be true.

I have recently been running twice a day, a warm up mile before workouts, and then another mile about 2 hours before I goto sleep. Its not much but makes me feel pretty darn good.

When I go to the gym I run two miles in about 20 minutes...which is pretty good for me, as I'm a pretty big guy( 220, 6'4). It's very true what someone said about it being addicting, I don't always have time to go with school and other things, and I just feel shitty when I don't go. I can't wait until school is out next week, I'm planning on working out and running 5 times a week all through the summer and hopefully I'll keep it until school starts again.

Short, intense runs for me. I run either 400m or 600m intervals on a track about 8 and 5 times each, respectively.

i like to smoke a little before i run sometimes, but i find that the high wears off quickly. it doesnt seem to affect my running stamina at all.
