Hero Worship (Elvis)
    #4093715 - 04/25/05 01:24 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

I see there is yet another movie on Elvis. What is the endless facination with a religious adulterer who worked for the DEA against illegal drugs and then died from drug abuse at 42?

He was a singer and a sinner, not a humanitarian nor a demi-god. Can't we find a better role model? (Perhaps the "King of Pop"?)

What can we learn from such self-destruction?

... you got it all wrong... Elvis is alive, as are his clones. He was taken by aliens to sing his greatest hits, and to spare us of his less popular songs.

"What can be learned from such self-destruction?"
-Living a contradictory lifestyle that isn't inline with your portrayals will make you famous? no clue.

Not to worship or idolise people because we just end up putting to much pressure and expectation on them and they will self destruct.

As a child you probably had some idols too, at least it was your local Barney the fireman or Jeff the ice-cream man or whatever.
You threw them away early, some can't do that, and die without doing that, so what, some are slow, some are fast

If you'd rather visit Neverland Ranch than Memphis, be my guest.
