misting casing question
    #4093484 - 04/25/05 12:32 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Ok so I have this substrate (poo and verm) that I cased a while ago, well i cold shocked it for like 10 hours and then set it out with a light and now its been 36 hours since.  The casing layer is very dry and I dont see any pins starting to form.  Should I mist until the pins form?  Oh and I cased with 50/50 with jiffy mix instead of peat moss.  Thx,

Mist it when you fan it.  Keep the casing layer wet, but not completely saturated.  It usually takes at least 7+ days in the FC for pins to form... GL bro :stoned:

you're going to want to do most of your hydration between flushes,
as misting will interfere with primordia formation (future pin sights)

A direct spray of water will interfere with pin formation, but a fine mist will not. If you've got puddles of water on there, then you misted too much. Otherwise a fine mist is perfectly fine...

keep it wet, so it shines

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

if it is dry, mist generously until you see pins.

I find this to be a pretty good philosophy for many things...
