How little (or lack of) sleep affects trip?
    #4090908 - 04/24/05 08:24 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

In another thread I have asked if sleeping pill taken 7 hours earlier can affect my trip, and have decided to not take any. Anyway I want to eat my mushrooms an hour before sunrise, so that means I wont have too much sleep. I cant predict if I will be able to fall asleep easly or not, but knowing myself I can only hope for 6 or 5 hours of sleep, I predict it will be more like 4 - 2 or even 2 - 1 or less if I will be too excited.

So how in your experience lack of sleep/little of sleep have affected mushroom trip? I know mushrooms will keep me awake and that is not a problem, but I`m wondering how about quality of a trip, mind clarity and well being, etc.

Any ideas?

I was too tired on my last trip two weeks ago, I had been up since 06:00 and been at work for eight hours, and tripped at around 20:00. The tiredness of my physical body and the effects of the mushrooms suspended me in a vast space somewhere in between wanting to sleep and the total awakeness of what the mushroom was trying to show me. It wasn't a very comfortable experience for me at all. Of course, that was only my 3rd trip, so other people's experience may vary greatly, including your own.

I wrote a trip report a while back regarding my experience called "Tired and possessed".

Yea, I remember that trip report. I can imagine how tired body and mind after a hard day and working could result in an unpleasant trip. But having reasonably rested body and only a little sleep is a different story.

maybe work out or something for a while before you go to sleep so you fall asleep sooner.
also wake up very early the day before so you can go to bed early and sleep early.

Thanx, I`m actually slowly starting to go to sleep and wake up earlier now (a week before this trip) to help myself change my day/night rythm, but still I wont have probably much sleep THAT night. So thats why I`m interested how big of an impact this can have on my trip. And if I will be able to have more sleep than I predict - hey, thats great.
