Which gourmets/medicinals do well in liquid culture?
    #4090264 - 04/24/05 01:11 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

I'm ready to start doing some gourmets and medicinals...thinking about reishi, portabella, and perhaps an oyster (best species for a newb?).
Anyway, I've seen agar's liquid culture recipe--the dextrose/light malt combo for cubensis.  I was wondering if this recipe should be altered for other species?  Or do some use substrate "broths" instead?
Just looking for some opinions as I'd like to have a decent amount of liquid culture so I can screw up several times.
    Thanks!

I had good results with an oyster culture in 5% honey solution.

Even easier is potato broth and detrose (5gm per liter). Works on oysters great. The real quest is for a liquid culture medium that works with Agaricus.
