Can anyone comment on how good this tastes? I.e., compared to oysters, portabello, etc. I understand that it should be harvested when young or it can attract bugs etc. Also, does anyone know if it would grow well on partially decomposed logs laying on the ground?
lots of these growing in kewgardens. absolutely huge......1ft+. All those i've seen were on woodchip mulch. They are very very tasty. and yes oodles of bugs. a bit like a 'horse mushroom'..I recon if you shredded up those logs and spawned in the mulch, they'd go!
